Nicely done, Fireheart! The poem is a metaphor in its whole, the analogy being the act of sailing the sea to making love, and there are nice micro-similes as well....the sun meeting the water and lips kissing, tongues and whips. I like the refrain, which you don't see used much here in poetry...it's more classic (rarely in free verse or modern poems). The poem has a classic feel and sound, mimicking the ocean. The woman is virginal. "Sank into her fire" is a fabulous metaphorical description. I really enjoyed this!
THANKS Gone Girl. I would say I mostly read classic and Shakespearean poetry so maybe that restricts me from breaking the chains of rhyme. I am really glad it is fetching a worthy admirer. Your words actually pump me up to project my heart into the ink trails. You truly are a motivation for a frog in the well like me to give the outside world a try knowing there is someone who admires and reviews. Thanks a Lot Gone Girl.
