CHAPTER 11 – by Amy F. Turner

Meg toppled out of the window at the sudden blast experienced by that glowing orb of light.  From below, Awoken, Jimmy, Hughesthatgirl and Amie stared up, astounded.  Those still inside the house came out to see for themselves what happened.  Mum the playboy bunny screamed and one-eyed pirate Snapey gasped while holding her.  DJ Rexx the Apache warrior and Ms. Otter Heinz Ketchup trailed after them and looked up like everyone else in shock of the latest development of crazy at this party gone terribly wrong.

The domme only looked up where her hands slipped on the wet window ledge.  Soon she saw the assassin appear at the window looking down at her with concern.  He grabbed her wrists just when she could no longer hang on to the fright of those watching below.

“I’ve got you,” he assured while trying to pull her up toward him.  The domme struggled though, making his effort more difficult.

“It’s over now,” Meg said softly with the shake of her head.  “Tes, you need help.”

“NO!”  Tes shook her head and struggled.  “You betrayed me, you evil bitch!  You fucked him!”

“What are you talking about, sweetheart?” Sam asked in confusion at the conversation Meg seemed to be holding with herself.

“Superman!  He was mine.  MINE damn you!” Tes spat up at Sam but seemed to look through him now.

“Who’s Superman?” Sam asked in confusion.  He didn’t recall meeting anyone at the party who dressed in that costume.

Meg said softly, in a reasonable voice, “I never knew you wanted Jake, Tes.  You know I would never do anything to hurt you.  You’re my twin sister, and I love you.”

“You fucking liar, you knew!  I told you!  You just took what you wanted like usual without even thinking of my feelings.  Selfish cunt!  Just like the rest of those popular bitches you hung with laughing at me because you thought I was shit!” Tes yelled in anger with her continued struggle.

“Then I’m sorry, Tes.  Please forgive me.” Meg pleaded.

“You lie!” Tes snarled.

Meg shook her head again.  “Never about how much I love you, sis.  You were my best friend.  All we had was each other after Mom and Dad died and moved into Grandma’s house.”

“Then how could you hurt me like that?  How could you fuck him in our bed!”

“I wanted Jake, too, and I hoped… that if you wanted him we… we could have had Jake together.”

Tes tilted her head to the side and shook it.  “Now, I know you’re fucking lying!  You wanted him for yourself and wanted to flaunt it in my face!”

“We did share everything, Tes.  Clothes, our bed, we even switch places all the time just to mess around making people think you were me and I was you.  Think about it.  You’re still pretending to be me.”

“NO!  I was the butt of your mean jokes with those cunt friends of yours!  But who’s havin’ the last laugh now, bitch!”  She laughed manically.  “You’re dead!  I’m alive, living the dream!”

Sam was losing his grip on her as he believe his friend Meg was losing hers on reality.  He interjected gently, “Give me your other hand, Megan.  Please.”

The domme stared through him and wept.  “Just let me go.  Quickly while I have control!”

“Megan, no!  Stop fighting me!  I can’t hold on!” Sam fussed leaning over more trying to hold on to her.  He was loosing his footing when he felt someone grab hold of his waist and pull him back.

“She belongs with the dead just like me, Sam.  I can’t hold on to her much longer.  Please.”  She wrenched one wrist free from Sam’s hand.

“Please, Meg,” Sam implored.  “Please give me your other hand!”

Meg stared up at him and smiled sweetly.  “I’m sorry, Sam.  I love you.”  She pried his fingers from her remaining wrist and plunged down to the screams of those who watched below.  Her body caved in the roof of a smoking rental car in front of the bed and breakfast.  The domme moved no more with blood streaming from her ears, nose and mouth.

“Noooo!” Sam collapsed to his knees and leaned his head against the windowsill.  Yellow mustard who held his waist when he began slipping fell to her knees with him.  She wept at his side.

Amy had been looking after Story who was knocked unconscious with a goose egg on his forehead.  With tears in her eyes, she made her way to the assassin.  “Sam?”

He shook his head as she looked out the window and fell to her knees on the other side of him.  She threw her arms around his shaking shoulders feeling warm tears running down her face in relief that this horrible night was finally over.  However, it ended in a way she would have never imagined.

Story came around with a groan, and Spyguy helped him to his feet.  King Solomon filled in what happened with tears in his eyes that didn’t fall.  Story stared at him and then the rest in disbelief.  “It was Meg all along?  But why?”

The floating ball of light floated toward them, and they stared at it in awe.  “Nite?  Is that you?” Love asked tentatively when she stood again with the help of the wall.

“And Flamestowater.  We are both here,” the ball of light said with doubled voices.

“Flames?” Sam said as he looked up with his wet face and smiled in disbelief.

“I tried to save who I could but could not do it alone.  Together Nite and I could do it though.  She is the only one who held on long enough.”

Story spoke up again with his question, “But why?  Why did Meg do it?”

“It was Tes, her twin sister.  She took Meg’s place after murdering her and her lover at a Halloween Party.  Meg has been trying to break through to her ever since, but she lost control at the party.  Tes reemerged and her anger made her strike out.”

“That’s some crazy ass shit,” Amy murmured in disbelief.  “So Meg at the end was trying to help us, too?”

The ball of light flashed and then split.  “Yes,” Flames said in a single voice.

“Is she still here?” Sam asked with a frown.

“No and I must leave now, too.  Goodbye everyone.  I love you.”  The light faded and winked out.

“Flames?” Nite asked weakly while her light continued to fade.  The dark closed in on her, and she didn’t like it.  Nevertheless, she had no clue what to do about it now that she was spirit.

Love wiped her tears away that flowed steadily.  “You’re gonna leave us, too?”

Nite Owl wished that she could reassure her friend, but she had problems of her own.  “This doesn’t feel right.  The door Flames went to is closed now.  Something’s draining me.  It’s so dark now.”

“Heh, heh!  You interfere for the last time, you bitch!  I told you I would have the last laugh.”  A cold, maniacal laughter sounded in the attic chilling everyone listening to the bone.  They could see their breath at each exhale in the sudden frigidness that encompassed them.

“Noooooooooooooooo!” Nite screamed as her dim light turned red and then winked out… forever.
